​There are four acceptable ways of dealing with asbestos once it has been identified: removal, encapsulation, enclosure, or management.
  1. Removal involves taking out the asbestos-containing material and disposing of it in a secure landfill (recommended method).
  2. Encapsulation involves applying a sealant or coating to the asbestos material to prevent the release of harmful fibers.
  3. Enclosure involves building a barrier around the asbestos material to isolate it from the surrounding environment.
  4. Management involves monitoring the condition of the asbestos material and ensuring that it is not disturbed or damaged.​
